Career Success For Shy Introverts

My 3-year-old is described by most who meet him as a little "shy".
He's the kid who stands behind my legs when we visit people until he feels he's ready.
He's also the kid who stands back at daycare drop-off, assesses the whole yard, and finds the safest place to play, often on his own until he feels ready to play with friends.
My husband and I don't like to call him "shy" because he's learning at his own pace and he's setting his own boundaries for what he feels comfortable with.
We admire him for that. We support in him in that.
And yes, we try and push him out of his comfort zone in a supportive way.
We encourage him to play with new kids at the park, or to say thank you at the cafe when they bring his smoothie (he's a total smoothie monster).
And we've also enrolled him in a special bush kindy program, to continue to support building his confidence.
Two weeks in, when he wouldn't climb a small tree out of fear, he's climbing trees that I'm uncomfortable climbing!
He's also diving straight in and doing group activities without knowing the other kids. That's never happened before.
Why am I telling you this?
I mean, I'm a career coach, not a parenting blog site!
Let me ask you...
