WFH Guilts...?

career job office work from home Nov 20, 2023

It normally starts with someone saying something like…

"I haven't seen you in a while" OR “Nice to see you in the office today”.

But maybe it’s more blunt, “Working from home a bit much aren’t you?”.

Irrespective if you’re working from home for a few days, you’ll probably be made to feel guilty about it at some point.  It doesn’t help the articles constantly talking about companies forcing workers into the office more regularly.

If you’re like most people, you may cave into your guilt, and simply head into the office when summoned, even if it doesn’t work for you.

Flipping the Perspective:

Keep in mind, people (you, me, everyone) either get energy, or lose energy, from having people around them.

Yep, you’re either predominantly an extrovert, or an introvert - this isn’t a flaw, it’s part of your makeup and not something to feel guilty about.

If you’re an introvert, you’ll likely have a higher sustained energy working most of your hours at home.  You get to reflect, take the time to think and it gives you space to recharge your energetic batteries.

Sure, there are days when the office seems like a haven (especially if at home you’re dealing with crazy housemates or kids), but it doesn’t mean you want to work every day from home.

It simply means you’re able to better regulate your energy, which means you’re going to consistently deliver more at work.

You do you.
