Side hustles making $$$

My coaching business PromotableYou started as my “side hustle”.
I worked as a HR Manager in corporate (and birthed my children!) whilst having this “side hustle”.
Over the years it’s grown into an awesome business with a great team and I am super passionate about what a side hustle can provide women, especially side hustles that provide independent income and increase joy and fulfilment in life.
When considering a side hustle, here’s three things to consider:

Do you want it to be big?

Do you want it to be a genuine second to your current career?

How hard are you willing to work at it?
The reason I ask this question is that you don’t necessarily start a side hustle if it is going to compromise your true passion. But if you work, as a means to create a bigger thing… go you!
So, I want to give you three examples in the hope to get you thinking, but also a pathway for you to see how you could do it yourself.
1. Supplement your wage doing something you would already do (or love doing).
Take dog walking as an example. If you walk, love dogs, and like extra money, then this could be a super simple side hustle, let me explain.
Join your local community Facebook group (most suburbs have several of them), and simply ask the question… “Need your dog walked? I’ll do it…”
This could mean, just for walking, you could earn an extra $30-$50 each time.
But this goes for almost everything, baby sitting, gardening, taking the elderly for a coffee you name it!
2. Replace your job with $150k from Airtasker
Use the same principle above, and go hunting for work people need help with.
For example, Facchin uses Airtasker to earn over $150k. Airtasker is essentially a community noticeboard where people both look for work, and pay for odd jobs to be done.
3.Go big!
These are personally my favourites, and although I'm skipping a few steps in between earning $150k to earning $300m… it’s worth calling out:
- Melanie Perkins is just 36 years of age with an estimated net worth over $5b.
How?
She’s a graphic designer who wanted to make it easy for herself and others to become graphic designers. She created Canva and is one of Australia's richest women.
She went big, and it paid off!
- Kayla Itsines is 32 years of age with an estimated net worth over $300m.
Once a personal trainer, Kayla created the Sweat App, an exercise app which has gone big internationally. Her programs are “designed by women, for women” which are having a huge impact on many lives.
What’s the secret to starting a side hustle?
Be clear on whether you want it to take over your current job, or simple have it as an extra income earner to take more holidays.
Do something that you’re passionate about, so it doesn’t feel like "work".
