Imposter Syndrome Challenge

Imposter syndrome can make or break your career.

Harvard Business Review cite psychologists Pauline Rose Clance and Suzanne Imes, who coined the term, noting three critical attributes of the phenomenon:

  1. You think people have an exaggerated view of your abilities.
  2. The fear of being exposed as a fraud.
  3. The continuous tendency to downplay your achievements.

It takes no prisoners and affects even the most senior women throughout their careers.

The impacts of not interrupting this pattern can be huge.   Not accepting a promotion.  Not applying for a role you'd really like.  Not asking for a salary increase.  Not putting forward your ideas.

Although you may never complete "beat" imposter syndrome, you can certainly kick it to the curb with some simple mindset shifts.

Try this one powerful tip:  Prove yourself wrong.

We spend so much time focusing on our "weaknesses" and areas for improvement, but not enough time focusing on where you are thriving!

Your Mindset Monday exercise is to write a list of ALL of your accomplishments and areas of strength and use this evidence to prove your imposter syndrome thinking wrong!

Read this list every day this week.  Then post in our free supportive Facebook Group how you went.

This small exercise that will take no time at all is life changing.
