According to the ATO there is $16 billion in lost and unclaimed super across Australia right now, and some of it could be yours (hello savings!).
This figure is a whopping $2.1 billion increase since the last financial year, so how is this money ending up “lost”?
New data from the ATO shows 23% of Australians hold two or more super accounts, which contributes to people forgetting about or losing super.
And if you have an inactive account (and it’s under six thousand bucks), your hard-earned wine pouring money makes its way to the ATO and sits like a lost dog at the pound, eagerly awaiting its owner to collect it.
