Financial Wellness is More Than Money

Financial wellness isn't just about the numbers in your bank account; it's about your overall well-being.

In a study published by Beyond Blue, it was found that 45% of Australian women experienced anxiety in relation to their financial situation.

Adding to that pressure is the extra 25.5 hours of unpaid labour women do each week (thanks for that scary stat Australian Bureau of Statistics).

The profound link between financial health and quality of life transcends mere numbers, affecting stress levels and the delicate balance between work and personal life.

Consider this: when you have some financial concerns i.e. too many bills to pay, the temptation to clock in those extra overtime hours intensifies. This pressure amplifies for breadwinners.

You can feel choked and weighed down by all that pressure.

The impact of financial stress extends far beyond your wallet—it takes a toll on both your mental and physical health. From anxiety to disrupted sleep patterns, the repercussions are felt everywhere.

And it can also create what I call the "job stuck-ness cycle".

It's when you want to improve your situation i.e. get paid a higher salary, but you're too stressed and tired to seek out this fantastic new higher paying job.

It's when you want to have more time to spend with your family and ultimately have more flexibility at work, but you're super fearful of changing your situation in case it makes it worse (grass may not be greener).

It's when you feel guilty for making incremental improvements to your life i.e. hiring a cleaner or doing something just for you to unwind so you don't do them and continue burning out.

Are you in the "job stuck-ness cycle"?

Simply "trudging on" isn't really going to solve anything.  You have to get out of the "stuck-ness" of it all.

The first step is acknowledging it and understanding where it is impacting you.

The second step is creating strategies to get out of the "stuck-ness".  Tune in next week where I will give you my top 3!
