Feeling Trapped?

You may be a lobster and you don’t even know it… let me explain.
Did you know lobsters have to shed their old shells in order to grow bigger?
They get to a point when they feel so trapped in their current shell, bursting at the seams…feeling itchy and uncomfortable and just ‘not right’...knowing they must choose to break out of that shell in order to grow a new one.
I mean sure, they can just stay there (cause it means not having to change #comfortzone), but it means living the rest of their lives wondering what other oceans they could be swimming in.
Perhaps you feel the same way in your career.
Now, full disclosure, I’m not a Marine Biologist, so please don’t take this too literally - it’s just a metaphor - but a really important one.
There are times in our careers we get stuck in our comfort zone, or adapt to an uncomfortable zone. But it’s a moment you are stuck in a place that you shouldn’t be, a role you’ve outgrown - similar to the lobster.
So, what would it take for you to shed the shell, whole-heartedly embrace a new job, promotion or a completely different career direction?
